Thanksgiving is a chance to gather, reflect, and enjoy a little extra time together— and WPR and PBS Wisconsin are marking the holiday with special programs designed to keep you company all day long. Whether you’re in the kitchen, hosting friends and family, or relaxing on your own, there’s something to enjoy with us.

WPR Music will fill your day with incredible performances and engaging stories celebrating Thanksgiving, including highlights from the Wisconsin School Music Association Honors concerts during “Morning Classics” with Stephanie Elkins starting at 8 a.m., and on “Drivetime Classics” with Jason Heilman starting at 4 p.m.

“Every Good Thing,” the annual celebration of classical music by fans around the country, returns at 10 a.m. with beautiful music and engaging stories. At 3 p.m., enjoy “Songs of Thanks” with the Minnesota-based vocal ensemble Cantus.

Need help with the meal or just some company in the kitchen? On WPR News at 11 a.m. Thursday, catch the annual “Turkey Confidential” from “The Splendid Table.” Award-winning chefs answer listener questions and share tips for a bountiful, stress-free Thanksgiving feast.

At noon on Friday on WPR News, you’ll hear“Points North: Native American Endurance,” an hour-long special featuring remarkable stories of Great Lakes fishing rights, food traditions and the translation of “Star Wars” into the endangered Anishinaabemowin language.

Looking to just curl up and be cozy? PBS Wisconsin has some special plans too. Enjoy a day-long encore of “All Creatures Great and Small on Masterpiece” Season Five from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Then, at 7 p.m., don’t miss the all-star celebration “We Love Public Television” featuring live performances, clips from iconic shows and celebrity guest appearances including Jamie Lee Curtis, Josh Groban, Courtney B. Vance, Martha Plimpton and others. Find the full day’s schedule at pbswisconsin.org.

On Saturday morning, kick off the weekend with Ruthanne Bessman’s “Classics by Request” kids-only show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on WPR Music. There’s still time for kids to fill out the special request form, and every participant gets a thank-you gift. At 5 p.m., tune in for the always inspiring mix of world music on “The Road to Higher Ground” with Dr. Jonathan Øverby. Then, on Sunday, wrap up your weekend with “Simply Folk” from 5 to 8 p.m.

WPR and PBS Wisconsin wish you the warmest, fullest and tastiest of Thanksgivings.
