Spring is prime time to observe birds returning to Wisconsin after flying thousands of miles from their wintering grounds. Technology has aided our understanding of bird migration, and retired wildlife educator Bill Volkert also returns to talk about spring birds on the wing.

    Among the more than 300 bird species passing through Wisconsin every spring are 35 species of warblers alone. Birders have there hands full checking each variety of these small, colorful and vocal birds.
