Tejano music, or affectionately known as Tex-Mex music, is the assigned name of different styles of folk and popular music born and crafted in Mexican-American populations of Central and Southern Texas. With roots in the late 19th century, Tejano music of Texas grew in popularity as a music genre with an even wider audience in the late 20th century.
