"Morning Classics," with host and producer Stephanie Elkins, is a rich soundscape designed to lift spirits and provide an oasis from the day's challenges, with music ranging from classical favorites to lesser-known gems.
Stephanie especially enjoys sharing short, pithy comments about the composers, pieces and performers, and she works to include those who historically haven't been well-represented on classical radio broadcasts, such as women and people of color.
Every Friday during the 10 a.m. hour, Stephanie shares a brand new release with listeners, and her Friday playlists often include video game music or film score excerpts.
Stephanie often writes for the WPR Music Blog and appears on WPR talk shows to discuss music:
Central Time: Florence Price & Margaret Bonds
Music Blog: Early shared music of Muslims, Jews and Christians
"Morning Classics" airs weekdays between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Central Time on WPR's NPR News & Music Network, immediately following "Morning Edition." The show also airs simultaneously on WPR’s All Classical Network.
