"Morning Classics," with host and producer Stephanie Elkins, is a rich soundscape designed to lift spirits and provide an oasis from the day's challenges, with music ranging from classical favorites to lesser-known gems.
Stephanie especially enjoys sharing short, pithy comments about the composers, pieces and performers, and she works to include those who historically haven't been well-represented on classical radio broadcasts, such as women and people of color.
Stephanie occasionally writes for the WPR Music Blog and appears on WPR talk shows to discuss music:
The Morning Show: Florence Price
Central Time: Florence Price & Margaret Bonds
Music Blog: Early shared music of Muslims, Jews and Christians
"Morning Classics" airs weekdays between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Central Time on WPR's NPR News & Music Network, immediately following "Morning Edition." The show also airs simultaneously on WPR’s All Classical Network.
