Gov. Scott Walker said he disagrees with Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump’s call for Muslims to be barred from entering the U.S., while also restating that Syrian refugees need more vetting before they come to Wisconsin.
Walker said his opposition to settling Syrian refugees in the state is a completely different issue from Trump’s controversial proposal. He said that while one is about safety, the other is an attack on religious liberty.
Walker added that he doesn’t think Trump’s comments will hurt the GOP or the credibility of the U.S.

In November, Walker called on President Barack Obama to suspend the settlement of 10,000 Syrian refugees, calling the influx a threat to safety.
