Why a Wisconsin Christmas tree farm is being transformed into an ecological preserve
Wisconsinites looking for a Christmas tree this season had the opportunity to help restore a tree farm to its original oak savanna and prairie habitat—while also getting into the Christmas spirit. The Waukesha County Land Conservancy let community members buy and cut down Norway Spruces and other “Christmas” tree varieties on the property to help transform it into a nature preserve. We talk to someone working on the project about how tree farms affect the land and the uniquely seasonal opportunity to help their cause.
