Yoiking and the Sámi People

This week’s edition of The Odyssey Series centers on: the musical tradition of “yoiking” of the Sami people representing a vast area of northern areas of Finland, Norway, Sweden and Russia revealing a very old form of song used for family, community and pastoral communication rooted in the daily rituals and lifestyle of the Sámi people.
