Several years ago, Jonathan had the pleasure of meeting and introducing the Blind Boys of Alabama Gospel Quartet to an audience for a live concert in Wisconsin. The lead singer back then, Clarence Fountain and Jonathan had a rousing pre-concert chat back stage. In short form, Fountain shared just how valuable the so-called “quartet sound” was to the development of North American popular music and specifically to African American sacred music. “For me” says Jonathan, “it was a real learning moment”.
