Rain Ends Drought In Parts Of Wisconsin

While heavy rain and snow soak most of Wisconsin, the dark storm clouds do bring a silver lining. Virtually all of southern and southeastern Wisconsin is technically no longer in a drought.
Stephen Hentz, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sullivan, says the current storm has helped offset the extremely dry conditions experienced last summer.
"We were actually out of it before this heavy rain came, when we had about a month of normal precipitation. But this really adds to the fact that we are no longer, in south and south-eastern Wisconsin, in a drought."
The northwestern part of the state, however, is still in a longer-term drought.
