A few thousand people took part in an annual May Day pro-immigration march in Milwaukee on Friday.

Part of the focus at this year’s event was on Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who has recently spoken in favor of tighter limits on legal immigration. Just prior to the Milwaukee march, Ronald Reagan High School student Rafael Diaz said Walker is on the wrong track.

“A lot of our families and … my parents, they want to be recognized by the country they see as their country now,” he said.

Walker has also dropped his support for a “path to citizenship” for undocumented people living here illegally, and is part of a lawsuit against President Barack Obama’s executive action that would protect millions of immigrants from deportation.
