One of the largest voter turnout initiatives for Election Day is in Milwaukee, where the group Citizen Action of Wisconsin says a couple hundred volunteers are giving people a ride to the polls.
Citizen Action Executive Director Robert Kraig said some voters can’t simply walk or drive to their neighborhood polling place.
“Sometimes it’s a matter of working,” he said. “They’re working and need to get there. There are actually a lot of people who move, and if you move within a 28-day period, you need to vote at your old (polling) place. So there are a tremendous number of complications.”

Kraig also said elderly people also sometimes have trouble getting out to vote on their own.
Citizen Action has largely stood opposed to Gov. Scott Walker’s policies, especially on health care issues. Nevertheless, Kraig said he hopes turnout is high among Walker supporters, too.
