Most of the state is under low to moderate risk for fire danger after rainfall on Sunday night and on early Monday morning.
Catherine Koele, a wildfire prevention specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, said that while burning is allowed Monday in parts of the state that saw rain, that could change soon.
“We didn’t receive a significant amount of rain, so, you know, with the moderate drought conditions that we’ve been kind of undergoing over the last couple weeks … it doesn’t put a huge dent in the current situation, so we could be right back where we were last week in a matter of days,” said Koele.

The northwestern part of the state did not see any rain, so burning permits there are still suspended.
