I interviewed bassoonist Catherine Van Handel on her role as soloist in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s newest release, David Ludwig’s “Pictures of the Floating World.”

She spoke about the inspiration behind the piece and how she approached playing it, and reflected on her time with the MSO, as she has recently taken on the position of assistant principal bassoon at The Cleveland Orchestra.
