A Love For Children Expressed In Music

By
Album Cover, “Let Love Rule” by Archie Roach, 2016

Archie Roach is a highly respected singer, guitarist and composer who survived a turbulent upbringing. A tough life growing inspired his development into a powerful voice for Indigenous Australians. “Let Love Rule”, is the title of his new self-produced 2016 release. I heard him perform several tracks from the recording on stage in Edinburgh, Scotland at the Festival Fringe in August of 2016. With the support of two additional guitarists, Roach delivered a powerful performance dedicated to children.

It was a transformative experience to hear him up close and how captivating he was for a packed house of devoted fans from around the world. His passion for celebrating children is truly heartwarming. In some ways his style, voice and on-stage presence reminded me of singers Richie Havens and Willie Nelson. And yet, his musical character is uniquely his own. The album may have sold out already, even before its “official” September 23, 2016 release.
