Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel says he wants to collect “some scalps” of illegal gun shooters in Milwaukee.
Schimel made the remarks at a Marquette University forum Wednesday. He said there have been some delays in an agreement signed by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Milwaukee County district attorney, and the city of Milwaukee in July to step up prosecution of illegal users of guns.
Schimel said he’s anxious to get the plan underway.

“We want to start collecting some scalps,” he said. “We want to get trigger-pullers and lock them up, and I want to get going on it.”
Schimel later told reporters that he’s ready to hire a couple of assistant attorneys general and get the Legislature to approve the funding. But he said he’s waiting for the Milwaukee Police Department to tell him the names of the detectives and patrol officers who will be involved.
The Police Department could not be reached for comment.
