Wisconsin saw a large increase in anti-Semitic incidents last year, according to a study published by the Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s Community Relations Council.
The Council’s annual report on anti-Semitic incidents says 33 confirmed incidents of anti-Semitism occurred in Wisconsin last year. The year before, the number was only 13.
The 2014 totals don’t count widespread vandalism that happened this past weekend in Madison.

The Federation’s Elana Kahn-Oren said 2014 was the worst year for anti-Semitic incidents in Wisconsin in more than 20 years.
“Hopefully, things will calm down, and it will go back to the lower numbers, but who’s to say? It seems to be part of a longer-term pattern,” said Kahn-Oren.
Kahn-Oren said anti-Semitism wasn’t just bad in Wisconsin in 2014 — she said the number of incidents spiked around the world.
