The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says it’s helping investigate a manure spill in southwestern Wisconsin that killed more than 100 fish.

Mlsna East Town Dairy reported around 3,000 gallons of manure that was spread on a field ran into an unnamed stream west of Knapp Valley Road on Friday, Oct. 30. The manure eventually flowed into Knapp Creek south of the Mlsna Dam near Cashton.

According to the DNR, staff observed dead fish flowing south in the unnamed waterway and Knapp Creek. Agency staff are reporting at least 118 dead trout in the area.
