Blizzard conditions are expected to continue into the night across southern Wisconsin, and state officials are urging people not to travel unless necessary.The National Weather Service says wind gusts of up to 50 mph are possible tonight, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says that is creating unsafe conditions for large trucks and commercial vehicles.A blizzard warning remains in effect for much of southern Wisconsin until midnight.
By early evening, snow was winding down from western to eastern Wisconsin, though forecasters say a few additional inches of snowfall is possible in the southeastern part of the state.
At 6pm, snowfall totals included: 18 inches in Middleton, 14 in Beaver Dam, 12 in Lake Mills, 11 in Muscoda, 10 in Mondovi,9 in Chilton, and 7 in Ashwaubenon.

The winds and snow-laden tree branches falling onto power lines are blamed for many power outages in the state today.More than 7500 customers throughout southern Wisconsin were without power late this afternoon.
Many school districts closed for the day Thursday, and some have chosen to remain closed on Friday, including Madison.
UW-Madison was among several UW campuses that closed Thursday.It will resume normal operations Friday, with in-person final exams scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
