A parking lot serves as a staging area for the Village of Pleasant Prairie’s preparations against possible flooding from superstorm Sandy. There was a crew of about a dozen people loading sand into sandbags late this morning. These are to be distributed to local residents who have beachfront homes in the community, just south of Kenosha. It’s a low-lying area along the lake.So far, village officials say there has not been much in the way of evacuations.People are paying attention, though, because the waves breaking on the shore look to be about five-to-eight feet, with a chance that they could become higher later this afternoon. So far, there isn’t much in the way of damage, flooding, or disruption.
