Co-Chair Heidi Larson said they raised around $16,000 last year to provide dental care for kids in need. Larson said they provide services to any school kid who is covered by Medicaid in Wisconsin.
“We provide dental cleanings (and) education. We provide toothbrushes, dental floss — without price — for them. We do dental sealing on the kids,” she said. “The nice thing about the program is the kids don’t have to leave school to get it done. It’s done right in their schools.”
Larson said they helped over 1,200 kids in Douglas County last year and provided 12,000 toothbrush kits.
The fundraiser will take place on Sept. 21 at the Superior Curling Club from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone 21 and older is welcome to attend.
