19-Year-Old White Male Shot Multiple Times

Agents with the state Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Superior that occurred Friday morning.

The Superior Police Department issued a news release Friday afternoon, in which it reported a confrontation occurred between officers and a 19-year-old white male. The man was a suspect in connection with the theft of a business on Belknap Street in Superior.

Officers shot the man multiple times in the city’s Central Park neighborhood. The man was conscious when he was transported to a hospital in Duluth for treatment of his injuries.

The officers involved were not injured, and it’s unclear how many were involved in the incident.

The names of the suspect and the officers are not being released at this time, and the officers have been placed on administrative leave.

Vehicles from the Superior Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were also at the scene.

Superior Assistant Police Chief Matthew Markon said in an email that no further comments would be made at this time.
