The Arrowhead Union High School District is the latest in Wisconsin to update its harassment policy by removing the word “gender” and replacing it with “sex,” causing some parents to fear LGBTQ+ students will be targeted. 

The town of Barronett probably doesn’t have the most noticeable LGBTQ+ population, but it might be punching above its weight in giving voice to that community thanks to podcast producer Jim Pounds and his work, including “The Gaily Show.”

On Sunday, Luke Prokop of the Milwaukee Admirals will serve as the Grand Marshal in Milwaukee’s 2025 Pride Parade.

Asked about the decision, WHS spokesperson Colleen Lies said the organization remains committed to sharing LGTBQ+ stories. 

Mental health advocates in Wisconsin are worried about the impact of proposed cuts to trained counselors who support LGBTQ+ people when they contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
