It was called the Great War, and there was plenty of opposition to it in America, which entered the conflict in 1917. By then England had been in the thick of it for three years with no end in sight, and resistance to World War I ran high among soldiers and civilians and in the upper classes as well as the lower. A prominent author and historian of Wolrd War I will tell us about the innovations that made the war particularly devastating, find out who opposed the war in England and why and what the extent of war opposition in Germany was.
