Adolescence has always been a time of difficult transitions, a time when relationships are unstable, routines are changing, and growing autonomy is challenged. Add to that uncertainty the constantly shifting role of social media and adolescence is more difficult than ever. Human development researcher Amy Bellmore will discuss what she has found out about adolescent peer relationships in a landscape fogged by social media. When all of the traditional difficulties of adolescence continue, what role do TikTok, YouTube, and other social media play in the establishment of healthy relationships?
