Heard On Simply Superior

If you’ve noticed a run on thesauruses at local libraries recently, it may be all the writers who’ve descended on the area. For the first time in its 74-year history, the Wisconsin Writers Association holds its annual conference in the state’s northern reaches, with “The Craft of Writing – Celebrating Northland Diversity & Nature,” at Barker’s Island in Superior this weekend. At 10 a.m. Sept. 30 “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington visits with conference director Debra King of Solon Springs and her “left-hand man,” husband Thomas, who share readings by speakers including Thomas Peacock and Emily Stone.

Also, the literary world meets the visual arts in Hayward with “The Nature of Relationship,” a collaboration between poets and artists who’ve created visual representations of their poems. Participants join Washington to share the works, which will be on display at the Out of the Woods Winery through Nov. 30.
