This Thursday, May 22nd, Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 features a conversation with Phillip Buch, Wausau West High School Music Department Chair and Director of Choral Activities, who is retiring after 37 years of teaching. We’ll talk to Buch about his success in gaining international acclaim for a local music program, his performances overseas and in national venues like Carnegie Hall, his philosophy of teaching, and the firestorm generated by the school district’s religious music controversy last fall. This year’s Wausau West Pop Concert performances played to sold out audiences, and were recorded for an upcoming Wisconsin Public Television special.
