Beginning in the 1900s as silent films, Bollywood, also known as “the other Hollywood’ is an evolving term that continues to alter Indian culture. The name Bollywood extends from the combination of “Bombay” and “Hollywood.” And despite the many similarities between Bollywood and Hollywood, their histories are distinctively different.
