In 2007, after reading about the annual Sacred Music Festival in Fes, Morocco, I packed my bag and headed off to Northern West Africa to hear first hand and up close the ancient sound of Sacred Gnawa Music. A sound that combines sacred poetry, percussion, and dedicated singing.
