George Gershwin was an American composer and pianist who’s compositions spanned both classical and popular genres, including melodies like Rhapsody in Blue, An American in Paris and the opera Porgy and Bess. The Cuban Overture was inspired by a vacation in Havana in February 1932. February 2015 marks the 83nd anniversary of this composition.
