The mood of mento music is closely wedded to calypso with close ties to other genres.
They include bachata, merengue, Palo, chutney, compas, dancehall, jing ping, reggae, reggaeton, salsa, soca, zouk, and nearly a dozen more featuring their own adaptation of the style.
