Violinist Julian Rhee was recently named the first-place winner of the 2015 Bolz Young Artist Competition. He began playing violin at age 5 and is currently a freshman at Brookfield East High School. Rhee has also won the 2015 Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Young Artist Competition, the 2015 Milwaukee Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, and the Madison Symphony Orchestra Fall Youth Concerto Competition in 2011 & 2013. He is a member and a Concertmaster of the Milwaukee Youth Senior Symphony Orchestra.

Rhee performs several works today with his piano accompanist, Jeannie Yu.

  • The third and fourth moverments from Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Minor
  • The first movement of Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 8 in G Major
  • The second and third movments from Brahm’s Violin Concerto in D Major
  • Henryk Wieniawski’s Variations on an Original Theme
