We’ve rounded up some of our favorite outdoor writers to discuss current issues involving nature and wildlife. We discuss DNR management plans, the spring turkey hunt and the latest from the Natural Resources Board.
Correction: A listener called in with a question on when the DNR would have an updated minimum wolf count for this year. One of our guests incorrectly stated that they didn’t think the DNR did a wolf tracking survey this past winter because of COVID-19 concerns. After checking with the DNR’s Randy Johnson, the agency’s large carnivore ecologist, Johnson said they did conduct a wolf track survey this winter and the team is now working through that information. Johnson expects to have a minimum count available in early June – in time for the DNR wolf quota committee to review in preparation for setting a harvest quota for the 2021-22 wolf season.
