Gov. Scott Walker is accusing his Democratic rival Tony Evers of getting his “facts wrong” in his first television ad of the general election.

The Evers spot that launched Tuesday focuses on the cost of health insurance in Wisconsin. In the spot, Evers compares the cost of average plans sold through the private marketplace for 2018. A Kaiser Family Foundation report found Wisconsin plans to be 47 percent higher than Minnesota plans.

But Walker on Tuesday tweeted that it’s a misleading comparison. That’s because Minnesota’s costs only went down after the state adopted a reinsurance program similar to one that’s being implemented in Wisconsin.

The Evers ad also faults Walker for not accepting federal money for Medicaid expansion.

Walker said Evers is “resorting to attacks that only mislead voters.”
