Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is praising President-elect Donald Trump for his pick of Reince Priebus as his White House Chief of Staff.
But Vos said Monday he has no opinion about Trump’s pick of alt-right icon Stephen Bannon to be his chief strategist.
Priebus, a Kenosha native, and Vos were college roommates and Priebus ran Wisconsin’s Republican Party before taking over the Republican National Committee in 2011.

Vos said the choice showed good judgment by Trump.
“This is just the first really good sign because Donald Trump is picking the smartest people he can to surround himself with, which frankly is what many of us said during the course of the campaign,” Vos said.
Trump announced his choice for Bannon and Priebus on Sunday.
Vos said he didn’t know Bannon, the CEO of Breitbart News. Bannon’s appointment has been cheered by white nationalists and other fringe groups while scrutinized by civil rights groups.
