U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz made a stop outside Eau Claire Monday in his quest for the GOP presidential nomination.
Around 200 people waited hours for the Cruz campaign bus to arrive at the Altoona Family Restaurant outside of Eau Claire. Once he was there, Cruz denounced policies of President Barack Obama and tweets from Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. But he also voiced disappointment at a Republican governor for vetoing a bill that would have allowed faith-based organizations to deny service to gays and lesbians.
“I thought that was very disappointing to see Gov. (Nathan) Deal in Georgia side with leftist activists and side against religious liberty,” said Cruz.

He went on to say that religious liberty used to be supported by both political parties.
“Now the Democratic Party has determined its old support of religious liberty is no longer relevant. The modern Democratic Party has determined that religious faith is inconsistent with its political objectives,” said Cruz.
The Georgia proposal drew criticism from the LGTB community as well as companies like Disney, Apple and the NFL.
