Political Rival Offers Suggestion For Walker's Post-Campaign Agenda

Milwaukee’s mayor says Gov. Scott Walker can improve his poll numbers in Wisconsin by taking tougher action on gun sales.

Walker dropped out of the GOP presidential primaries Monday amid low polling numbers nationally. He’s also down to a 39 percent approval rating in Wisconsin, according to the most recent Marquette University Law School Poll. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, who lost two races for governor to Walker, said the governor is going through a tough time politically. But Barrett said Walker could rebound by improving public safety through expanded gun sale requirements.

“I continue to believe that we should have a government that recognizes that people who purchase guns should undergo a background check regardless of where they buy a gun,” said Barrett. “That would be a great place for him to start.”
