Wisconsin Jewish Group Plans Peace Vigil In Wake Of Middle East Violence

Clashes Between Palestinians And Israelis Have Risen In Recent Weeks

The recent wave of violence between Palestinians and Israelis in the Middle East has a Wisconsin Jewish group calling for peace.

Dozens are dead in the upsurge of stabbings and shootings that began a few weeks ago. The Milwaukee Jewish Federation is inviting people to a peace vigil Sunday night at a synagogue in Glendale.

The Federation’s Elana Kahn said the violence against Israelis does not seem organized.

“It seems to be individuals who are attacking people on the street, people as they’re standing at the bus stop, or sitting on the bus going to work, and it is the sheer number of those kinds of attacks,” she said.

Kahn said she hopes the vigil in suburban Milwaukee and any others around the U.S. show solidarity with people in Israel. Several news agencies report numerous Palestinians killed in clashes with Israeli troops or other confrontations.
