Tribe Raises Money to Pay Off Mine Debt

The Mole Lake Band of Chippewa is trying to raise 8 million dollars to pay off the mortgage on the controversial Crandon Copper mine site. The tribe borowed the money two years ago when itjoined with the Potwatomi tribe to buy the land. The tribes felt the purchase was necessaryto protect their reservations and the Wolf River from pollution the mine might cause. Gil Halsted reports…
