Prior to killing nine people, then himself on Minnesota’s Red Lake Indian Reservation, teenage gunman Jeff Wiese reportedly slammed his peers for listening to rap music. Weise said his fellow Indians were falling into a gangster mentality because of the genre. But a Native American rapper with ties to Red Lake says there’s a brighter side to hip-hop.
