Madison Night Mares win Northwoods League Softball championship

The Night Mares bested the Minot Honeybees 6-5 Wednesday night

In only its second season, Madison’s summer collegiate softball team won the Northwoods League championship.

The Madison Night Mares bested the Minot Honeybees 6-5 Wednesday night at Warner Park in Madison.

The team’s Facebook page called it a “storybook ending” after Trinity Kennemer hit a line drive up the center to bring the winning run home for the Night Mares.

It’s the Night Mares’s first championship win. They finished their 2024 season in second place.

The Northwoods League Softball is the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League. It has teams in Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota. According to the league’s website, it lets players build their skills for college, Olympic and future professional play.
