The Milwaukee Bucks basketball teamhave unveiled a $1 billion arena and economic development plan for downtown Milwaukee.
Under the plan, the arena would be built just north of the current Bradley Center, which would be torn down. There would be a public plaza, offices and retail developments stretching a few blocks toward the Milwaukee River.

Debate over whether the state should partially finance the half-billion dollar arena had slowed while legislative leaders waited for the Bucks to announce key details like arena location and nearby development projects. Now that the team has given some details, Tim Sheehy of the Metro Milwaukee Association of Commerce hopes state lawmakers listen
“Our message to the state lawmakers is, this is tax revenue. This is the kind of development and job creation that creates the revenue that the state uses,” said Sheehy.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has said the plan is very exciting, and that he continues to support Gov. Scott Walker’s state financing plan.
