Police in Menomonie have identified a suspect in the death of the University of Wisconsin-Stout student Hussain Alnahdi.

In a statement released Friday afternoon Menomonie Police Chief Eric Atkinson said the name of the suspect is being withheld pending a charging decision from the Dunn County District Attorney.

But he said the suspect was neither a UW-Stout student nor a resident of Dunn County.

Alnahdi was beaten to death Oct. 29 outside Menomonie’s tavern district.

Police say there has been no evidence to suggest that the killing was a hate crime, but say the investigation is ongoing.
