Firefighters and footballers are hoping to distribute child ID kits to families across the state.
The ID kits have been around for years, and include inkless fingerprints, swabs for DNA samples and a profile card. In case a child would go missing, families would then have more information for police.
State firefighter unions are joining with a national football coaches group and the Green Bay Packers to promote a wider distribution of the ID kits. Mahlon Mitchell, who heads the Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin, said the ID kits are needed.

“We believe in this program because we want to give every family in our great state the best possible chance of helping law enforcement find their missing, abducted, runaway or exploited child, should that unthinkable happen,” he said.
Former Green Bay Packers great Jerry Kramer urged donations for the child ID kits, quoting a line from former Packers coach Vince Lombardi about making the world a better place.
