Advocates for tougher gun laws are trying again to take their message to key state and federal lawmakers.
Organizing for Action, the progressive group linked to President Barack Obama, held a vigil on Monday night in Milwaukee for people harmed by gun violence.
Khary Pennebaker said his mother shot herself to death when he was a child. Pennebaker urged other gun victims to make lawmakers supported by the National Rifle Association feel the emotional pain.

“So when they go to those chambers and they talk among themselves and they cash those NRA checks, make them think of you first,” he said. “Make them think of you first, not the NRA.”
Relatives and friends of the half dozen shooting victims at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek also spoke.
Organizing for Action said a legislative priority is requiring background checks for all gun sales.
