Officials from the Wisconsin Department of Justice are investigating an incident in Superior where a local police officer unknowingly ran over a person.
In a press release Sunday, the department said a Superior police officer responded to a call for an injured person in the road Saturday evening. The officer had unknowingly run over the person, who was lying in the road, a few minutes before the 911 call, according to the release.
Officials say they do not know why the person was lying in the road or whether they were injured prior to the incident. The person was transported to the hospital and was in critical condition as of Sunday.
