It's The Opera's 86th Consecutive Season Of Live Saturday Afternoon Broadcasts

The Metropolitan Opera’s 86th consecutive season of live Saturday afternoon broadcasts is underway, and continues through May 13.

Season highlights include Puccini’s “La Boheme”, Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” and Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin.” On Christmas Eve, an encore broadcast of a holiday favorite, Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel”.

Mary Jo Heath returns for her second season as host, and Ira Siff returns for his 10th season as commentator for the broadcasts, which feature informative intermission features, live backstage interviews with artists, and the popular Opera Quiz.
