Superior Leaders Lend Endorsements To Mayoral Candidates

Hagen Endorses Fennessey, Milroy Endorses Paine

As the city draws closer to electing a new mayor, Interim Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen announced that he is endorsing Superior City Councilor and mayoral candidate Brent Fennessey.

Hagen said Fennessey would be a steady leader that would make decisions based on research and common sense.

“I believe he has a greater span of experience in all the measures and all the areas that should be…desired of a person that’s chief executive officer and, in this case, in municipal government,” Hagen said.

He added that Fennessey has the experience and relationships in the private sector that will help the community thrive.

Meanwhile, State Rep. Nick Milroy, D-South Range, said he’s endorsing Douglas County Board Vice Chair Jim Paine in his run for mayor. Milroy said Paine’s record of service in the community make him the best man for the job.

“He’s always been one of those people who has worked well with everyone. He always puts people over politics and has built a lot of relationships over the years,” Milroy said. “He works in a profession where he has some executive experience. He’s served on the county board for a number of years and is the vice chair and really has the necessary experience, including his military experience, that has given him the leadership abilities that will really benefit the city of Superior.”

Fennessey and Paine will take part in a Wisconsin Public Radio debate next week. That debate will be aired Friday, March 31, on Hear Me Out at 10 a.m. The election will be held on April 4.
