Throughout the 19th Century, New Orleans had its own unique customs when it came to race relations and relations between the sexes. This week, the myriad of ethnicities and classes that made the city unlike any other. UW-Madison French professor Jennifer Gibson will guide us through this corner of French-American culture, and how New Orleans was portrayed in the poetry and prose of the time.
