On March 6, 2021, Emily Ford, of Duluth, Minnesota, became the first woman to thru-hike the 1,200-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail in winter. She reached Interstate State Park in St. Croix Falls, the western terminus of the Ice Age Trail, 68 days after starting her trek on Dec. 28 at the trail's easternmost point in Wisconsin's Potawatomi State Park. emilyontrail.com
