The Senate is expected to vote Tuesday on the confirmations of Elections Commission administrator Michael Haas and Ethics Commission leader Brian Bell, who came under scrutiny after Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel released a report on leaked documents connected to now-closed John Doe investigation of Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign. Charges were not recommended, but Sen. Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, has called on Haas and Bell to resign, arguing that “any leftover remnants of the partisan GAB will never have the confidence of the public.” Both have resisted and went in opposite directions to try to save their jobs with one of them criticizing the former agency they worked for and the other one standing up for it. State Capitol Bureau Chief Shawn Johnson joins us to offer the latest on this situation and looks ahead to the coming vote.
